My Pixel 10 Pro and Me: Notes on Keeping It Alive

A Pixel 10 Pro owner shares the good, the bad, and the smudgy—battery quirks, camera paranoia, and why a cracked earbud case changed everything.

Unboxing: The Honeymoon Phase

When I finally got my Pixel 10 Pro, I felt like a kid at Christmas. But that glossy frame? It's a fingerprint magnet, and I swear it scratches if you look at it wrong. I learned that the hard way after a week of tossing it in my bag without a case.

The phone is 207 grams, which sounds light until you're holding it above your face in bed. I've dropped it on my nose twice. Twice! After the second time, I ordered a case from Amazon—ugly, but protective. I still miss the sleek design, though.

Battery: The Daily Gamble

Battery life is my constant companion. With 5G blazing, auto-brightness on full, and GPS tracking my runs, I'm lucky to get four and a half hours of screen time. That's brutal. So I carry a power bank everywhere—it's like a security blanket.

On Wi-Fi, it's a different story. I can stretch it to seven hours, maybe more. So I've become that person who asks for the Wi-Fi password at every café. Who cares about looking odd? I need my battery.

I've also stopped charging overnight. Instead, I top it up during the day, keeping it between 20% and 80%. It's a hassle, but I've read too many horror stories about battery degradation. I'm paranoid, and I admit it.

Cleaning: A Never-Ending Battle

The matte glass back is gorgeous, but it's like a lint magnet. I wipe it down with a microfiber cloth every evening, usually while watching TV. The camera module, with its shiny edges, collects dust like crazy. I use a soft brush to clean it weekly, especially before trips.

The charging port is another culprit. Lint builds up in there faster than you'd think. I've had to fish it out with a wooden toothpick (gently!) because the cable wouldn't click in. It's gross, but it works.

Software: Not Just for Geeks

I used to ignore system updates, but now I install them as soon as they pop up. They often fix bugs and patch security holes. I also do a monthly purge of apps I don't use—it frees up storage and keeps things snappy.

Battery health? I check it in settings every few weeks. If it dips below 90%, I adjust my charging schedule. It's a small thing, but it makes me feel in control.

Camera: The Fragile Heart

The camera is why I bought this phone. So I protect it like a baby. I use a case with a raised lip so the lens doesn't touch surfaces. And I've stopped pointing it directly at the sun—I read that can damage the sensor, and I'm not taking chances.

Cleaning the lens is a ritual. I use a lens pen, then a soft cloth. It takes two minutes, but my photos stay sharp. I've even started checking for smudges before every shot.

Beyond the Phone: Accessories That Suffer

My Pixel Watch 2 and Buds Pro 2 need love too. The watch band gets sweaty after workouts, so I rinse it and let it dry. The earbuds? I wipe them down, but the charging case is fragile—I cracked it the first month. Now I treat it like it's made of glass.

I also use a magnetic mount in my car. It's convenient, but I have to be careful when attaching the phone—I've scratched the back once. So now I align it slowly, every time.

It's Not Just a Phone

Keeping this phone alive isn't just about wiping it down. It's about how I use it—charging, storing, even what I install. I've become that person who reads battery reviews before downloading an app. My friends think I'm nuts, but my phone is still in great shape after a year.

So, yeah, it's a lot of little habits. But they work. And honestly, it's kind of satisfying to see that battery health at 96%.
